Have seen a lot of Skenes posts here because, honestly, LSU baseball this year isn’t what it usually is. So I get it.

I love minor league baseball and should’ve posted this earlier this week. But this is such a great, nuanced podcast from guys that’ve watched minor leagues for years and years.

First half was basically all on Skenes for the listen. Including an interview.

Enjoy

LSU could be undefeated right now and you would see Skenes post. Just like you see Crews, and Bregman and Nola post.

Since there is so much conversation I’ll start.

- Goes into him accidentally creating his ‘splinker’ which gave him 5 pitches
- His frustration with his IP (until this week after the podcast) because the Pirates know they have a squad and a current rookie #1 or #2 already with Jones so they want to keep Skenes ready for September/October
- Interview sound is bad but Skenes comes across very grounded and talks a lot about his start as a catcher and why it affects how he approaches the game
- How he’s already faced a couple major leaguers that are going through rehabs and they were just as lost as the minor leagues against Paul

- Not trying to get political but I thought this was interesting. Keep in mind these guys are MiLB podcasters so they don’t care about politics, hell because they see more of ‘Murica’ than most people here. But during 2020-2021 they were caught up a lot in the progressive wave a bit, but not TOO bad. But I don’t know if it’s because I’m from a Marine/Air Force family, but I appreciated how Sam noticed specifically HOW Paul stood for the national anthem. It’s not a big deal (even though this paragraph is long) but I thought it was a nice touch to their personal feelings after watching so many minor leaguers. Maybe I’m just drunk on this last leg of my flights

- On an actual political note, this podcast was where I learned about (IMO) the greatest tradition in MiLB when on July 4th, the Iowa Cubs get 40-50 immigrants that have gone through the legal process to become citizens and a judge gives an amazing speech to swear them in during the game. Highly recommend going back and listening to the speech on their podcast for July 4th in 2021 for this

Don’t go full LSU on me now baw. Came in peace (I fully acknowledge Arkansas fans would be worse)

ETA: My point here is the proportional amount of posts about former players versus current will always shift based on the current teams record. It’s natural. In 2016 we had a lot of posts about Dallas Keuchel, James McCann, etc.. Just natural.

Are there a lot of baseball players kneeling for the anthem that I don’t know about?

he definitly threw a 2 seamer at LSU but he talked in some other article about the splinker cooking after the CWS.

Is that how that happened?
