The former Podnuh’s Bar-B-Que location on South Sherwood Forest Boulevard has been sold for $850,000 to a group that plans to turn it into an Asian noodle restaurant. The building at 2648 S. Sherwood Forest was sold Thursday, said Troy Daigle of Jarreau Real Estate, who represented the seller. Podnuh’s closed the restaurant last week after more than 30 years because of declining business

One of the officers in the company is Zhen Hong Chen of Youngsville, who was part of a group that recently purchased the former Walgreens at the corner of Staring Lane and Perkins Road. The building is being converted into a hot pot and Korean barbecue restaurant that will open in early 2025.

RIP podnuh's beans

Hasn't been much in years. Beans were good though.

FWIW, Jay's BBQ beans are the worst. Those things taste like straight vinegar.

We ate at Sonny's on Florida a few months back, and it was legit decent for a chain style place.

Florida Blvd is still open and the beans are still amazing. I don't think they will be open for the next generation though, so enjoy the beans while you can.

Sad, but it's in a declining (or already declined) spot.

$850k for a brand new concept on that busy road is a hell of a deal. FDL punching the air right now.

That is a goddamn shame. I used to work that shite over. Ribs, beans and potato salad.

I'm all about new concepts in town. Here's to hoping that they put out something interesting, especially being Korean BBQ is a pretty common ask I see from people as far as additions to the city's food scene.

The lease had been up for a while and the owners of podnuhs kept it going until the building owners found a buyer. The owner is getting older and tired of all the riff raff and bs at that location. Can't say that I blame him.

Podnuh's BBQ was the GOAT growing up in Baton Rouge in the 90s

Well this is good to know. I was commenting in another thread how there has been no movement at the building. But if it’s still basically a year out then it makes sense.

Was surprised to see it closed the other day. Good food but likely the absolute dirtiest restaurant in town. It was only a matter of time.
