In a sense, this has been a great scenario for us.

Its gotten so F'ing bad, the national ridicule is so strong, and fans are so apathetic, that Griffin basically has to act. And not just act, but act fairly big. OKC started a rebuild around when you did, went all in on actually rebuilding, and lapped the ever living frick out of you.
Anything remotely approaching status quo simply will not work.
Griffin/Benson's hands are forced.

Absolutely agree. A complete 180 in a matter of 2 weeks. I feel like we’ve said it time and time again, but this is really going to be the most important off season in this regime’s history.

Griff wont be forced to do anything. Gayle doesn’t hold people accountable and almost no chance she pays the tax so we won’t have any wiggle room.

Perhaps I wasn't clear, he won't be forced by Gayle to do it.
The force is metaphorical. He can't just sit back and do nothing because for once there is actual national attention and ridicule, and the media will pay attention to what we do for once.
Griffin sees that, he also sees an already tenuous fan base extremely apathetic.
Lady Benson will notice if Season Ticket sales plummet and I know for a fact, they are. Sales look abysmal for next year.

Don't forget Minnesota. Zion's second year the Pelicans were 31-41, the Wolves were 23-49, and the Thunder were 22-50.
Fast forward a few years the Thunder and Wolves were two of the top three seeds in the West and the Pelicans had to win a play-in game just to make the playoffs, and are now about to get swept, while the Wolves swept the Lakers and OKC is about to do the sweeping as well.
Also, I don't believe for a second Griff will do anything big. They'll have a new center next year, maybe a new bench piece. But that's it.

At least one of BI or CJ will get moved. I can't imagine a universe where they go into the season with CJ/BI/Zion again, and pay Trey Murphy 100 mill

I think OKC is the perfect example of why tanking is always the right move in sports.
The Saints are learning the hard way. If you don't have the next top 10 QB, you have nothing. Keep swinging until you find him.
In the NBA a top 10 player is the equivalent. Currently, we don't have one. Zion can maybe make it there. BI has zero chance of even being a top 25 guy IMO.
You pay mid-range talent, bit time salary and you will be stuck in purgatory. Pay Derek Carr, Brandon Ingram, Kirk Cousins, Jordan Poole, types, you're fricked.

Yea he’s gotta make a move.
Go get Colin Sexton. Just start there in my humble opinion.
I hate to give up CJ but we gotta make a move now.
Sexton is 25yo, 6ft 3”, can score, and is ready to orchestrate an offense.

And got your only star player injured with 3 minutes left in the first play in game that he shouldn’t have even been playing in.
Just a total, complete and abysmal failure

You are correct. I’m hoping for a sweep to leave no doubt. Hate rooting against my pelicans but a 4th game blowout would guarantee big changes

I don't believe that. They have the healthy star player and we dont. They have far more quality depth and a better hc, and number 2 3 and 4 player, and they have better picks but......
Oh wait they lapped the frick out of us.
In all seriousness, while they're ahead of us, it magnified because, once again, Zion got injured. They've made the playoffs one time less than us up to this point, and will have one more series victory. If SGA was hurt and Zion was playing it'd be 3-0 or 2-1 the other way, I feel very confident in that. He's that big of a difference maker for us.
The Pels can be fixed. You're going to have to change a lot of things, but it can be done.

I made a thread saying the same. Imagine if we'd have lost to the kings and missed the playoffs. Griff would blame it on BI and Zion's injuries and would run it back. This embarrassment shoves the actual reality right in Griff's face

The biggest difference between OKC and us are:
1. SGA is healthy. Our star is hurt.
2. They have a modern big. We don't.
3. They play a modern NBA game. We don't. They flop. We don't. They use the refs to their advantage in being physical when it's not called. We don't.
4. Their coach is not inept.
The first 2 are hard. Zion has had bad injury luck. The big modern one is also hard to find.
The rest is easy, with a few personnel changes and a new coach.

I don't know what to tell you then. Our star was healthy most of the year and we were an 8th seed and they were the 1 seed.

I started a thread early in the season saying this team would likely need to be blown up.
The worst scenario for us would have been a competitive first round series, paying BI 250 million and Trey 150 million and thinking everything was great and we just needed small moves.
We don't need small moves. We need to make MOVES.
The 49 wins was fools gold. We beat up a lot of bad teams, and a lot of good teams missing players. When we played good playoff teams at full strength, we got our nuts kicked in

I disagree. We dropped probably 8 games an even semi competent coach wins.
Fully healthy, this is a good team with mismatched pieces and bad coach.
