I saw a few wildfires while living in Colorado and the size those fires grow to in almost no time at all and the speed they move over land is pretty frightening. Add in mountainous terrain that limits your escape path and those things can be scary AF.
huge wildfires that create their own weather and sweep across the landscape at breakneck speeds are by far the scariest.

Although, there are very few times I've felt as helpless and hopeless as I did when hunkered down in a hallway as an ef4 wedge over a mile wide was coming my way. When you're praying it doesn't hit you, then it gets quiet except for the roar of the wind...that's scary stuff.

When I was a kid my dad made a living chasing overtime jobs so we lived in a bunch of crappy trailers. Most of the time they weren't underpinned or tied down, as if that would help. My 2 sisters and I were alone one afternoon after school and a Tornado was headed straight for us across a cotton field. It turned about a half mile from us and knocked our trailer off the foundation on one end....but there were 2 trailers adjacent to ours closer to the funnel and both of them rolled over several times. One of them was unoccupied, the other had 2 OLD lesbians living in it....in their 70's. They cam crawling out of that trailer like something out of a movie. Another neighbor had the presence of mind to turn off the propane at the tank or it would have probably started a fire. We were huddled in my sisters car as all of this happened as if that was a great place to be LOL. I was about 7 at the time and it is like it was yesterday. A bunch of folks in the neighborhood came over and put our house back on the blocks that evening.
