I'm imagining the suit will involve claims of parish money/government power over minority citizens of the parish.

They can attack the law/process itself as violating various federal laws and the 14th Amendment.

I understand the argument, just don't see it happening, seems like a huge reach.

Moreover, Ted James is going to defeat Broom in November and he appears to be more intelligent and practical. Why waste more tax money fighting the inevitable?

1. Because it is EBR tax money and not her personal stash, so she doesn’t mind spending it

2. If she doesn’t fight it tooth and nail, she loses tons of tax revenue that now goes to St George along with likely having to cough up five years of taxes retroactive to the incorporation.

That not only takes money out of her ability to spread around to buy votes, it puts a massive hole in BR’s budget that will have to be filled somehow.

She would rather fight a losing battle to keep that money than concede defeat, lose about $25-50m annually from the general fund, and have to cover all that BRPD and BRFD funding by cutting other costs in BR’s budget or raising taxes.

This split is going to hurt budgets bigly.
