Do I wish they existed?
Yes.
Do I think they existed?
No. There's no compelling evidence. Same with black mountain lions in Mississippi.
Even just 20 years ago it would have been a lot easier to make a case for them existing but with cameras on every other tree one would have been photographed by now. Especially since there would have to be a couple hundred to have a sustainable, breeding population. The world is a lot smaller than it used to be.
The arguments for why one hasn't been photographed get weirder and weirder. Some folks claim that they can sense the cameras. Others claim that they are alien and can phase shift into another dimension when the camera goes off to avoid being photographed. I've seen some folks on YouTube claiming that you have to be native American, play native American music, and be Bigfoot needs to want to be seen by you. Freaking nuts. There's a vendor I talk to at work pretty often who believes 100%. He's a reasonable guy otherwise. It's kind of like a religion, especially if maw maw and paw paw been telling you all your life that it's true. Folks will believe it because their parents and friends do and never really take a legit critical look at why they believe it.
