I always have a tiny Victorinox Classic with me - no good in a gang fight or skinning a moose, but I use the scissors and screwdriver as much as the blade.
I’m the hero at Christmas for being able to open all the torture devices used to package toys nowadays.
Downsides: ridicule from the pocket-machete-carrying hands at work; it’s often lost in sofa cushions; and easy to forget & lose to TSA. But replaceable for $20 or so.
