Great insight. It makes me think about how so many fans think if you don't have a top five recruiting class, you didn't get any good players, but that's a complete lie. If you finished with a top 20 class, you still got a lot of talented players. Signing them is great, but will they perform at their peak ability when they get on campus is another question.

College baseball in general is much better now than it was back in the Skip days, or even 15 years ago. The opposition is putting more resources into the sport than ever before, and the other programs are in a lot better shape than when Skip would lose multiple top 5 in the nation players and just reload. These days, you just cannot lose the best pitcher and best field position player and expect to just keep on as you have before every single time it happens. Sometimes you will reload and be just as good. Sometimes this will happen. It's just the nature of 21st century college baseball.
