This is a legit question, not a troll. How long has Abreu been this bad? This sounds a lot like stuff we were saying about Ozuna in April last year. He was probably a week from being DFA'd before he suddenly caught fire when the calendar flipped to May and he has arguably been the best hitter in baseball since then.

Ozunas batted ball profile still remained pretty good. Question was could you afford to wait it out and did you have a better option to DH.
Abreu profile is god awful. Don't really think it's a comparison.

It’s not. Abreu had apparently fallen off a cliff towards the end of 2022 and White Sox fans/guys that follow this stuff heavy said it looked bad and just wasn’t a guy fatigued from a season.

He was bad but fine because of the rest of the lineup the last like two months of the season and was frankly pretty good in the postseason, drove in some big runs. But he’s completely gone don’t think it’s salvageable. He simply can’t hit velo and he’s pressing so not taking good AB’s and can’t hit spin even if it’s a mistake.

The other bad thing about this team currently is Bregman is equally as bad against velo. He’s got to have 30 or so pop ups that haven’t left the infield this year because he just flat out can’t get on top of the baseball. I’m talking about advantage counts or looking to ambush and the ball is in the zone and he can’t barrel it.
