Look, our heckler bought a ticket to a small-venue acoustic show, and expected to be attending a greatest hits concert. If HE had read the reviews, he would know that was not what he was going to be attending. In any case, he did not like it, and he acted like an arse.

As I said, Mellencamp should have, just thrown the heckler out and continued the show for everyone else. Yes, walking out makes makes him something of an arse as well, which I acknowledged above.

None of which is the point of this thread or of my initial comments.. If you do not want to attend an intimate, small venue acoustic show, don't buy a ticket for one. It is really that simple.

For three pages, posters here asserted that the heckler was complaining about Mellencamp making comments praising Biden (clearly NOT the case), when he was simply telling the same type of story that he had been telling for the entire tour ... as reported in all the earlier reviews.

Those posters just accepted a false representation from social media, and they went with it ... because it satisfied their preconceptions. That is intellectually lazy. In the first three pages of the thread, I was the ONLY poster to stop, think and research. That is just sad.

Pretty sure I already gave you your cookie for being special on the thread. From the outset, in fact. On other threads I have been the guy who actually watches the video/reads the link/etc. You don't have to be around here long to understand that only a single digit percentage of people who post here do that sort of thing. Being the smartest or most thorough poster on any given thread on this board is a very low bar. Case in point, after all of this discussion about it, you're still getting replies assuming that he made a political speech.

Pretty sure we've already covered everything in that post above, in fact. Some of it in more than one exchange.

I understand and have responded to all your points. You don't seem to be hearing mine from my last one. We've already covered the original point, so I am moving on to one of my own.

I don't care why the guy was heckling Mellencamp. I don't care that it was his fault.

Karma's a bitch. And so is Mellencamp. So I don't feel bad for him no matter what. I'm glad the guy was an arse. Maybe it gave him a tiny fraction of a taste of what everybody else in his life endured from him for 50+ years.

Karma's a bitch. And so is Mellencamp.
And I have agreed that walking offstage and cheating the remainder of the audience was douchey move by Mellencamp.

The rest of the audience seemed to understand that this was not a “hits” concert from a kid with three albums and two chart singles. They certainly knew that the show would include some commentary, because that is who Melkencamp is and has always been. They did not care.

They booed the heckler and wanted the show that they paid to see, complete with commentary, film clips and poetry readings.

Melkencamp should have tosssd the heckler and given it to them.
