It took 15 ballots to get Johnson, because the GOP has no clue that no one will be perfect, and it actually does take comprimise to run a country such as ours.
But, all you have to do is read this board on a daily basis to see why the 15 ballots were necessary.

It sure didn't from 2009-2016. Emperor Barack pretty much did what he wanted even without Congress.
