Been zapped a few times over the years. Nothing bad, just startling.
But when I was 10, we were in the middle of a baseball game when a sudden storm blew in. We all ran to a nearby pavillion. Players, coaches, and spectators. One of the coaches on the other team had been arguing with the home plate ump during the game and was pretty close to being tossed from the park when the storm came. We were all under the pavillion except the umpires who were fast walking to get there. The home plate ump got struck by lightning. The coach he had been arguing with was standing near me with his arms crossed bitching to one of the parents from his team about the umpire. Soon as it happened most people gasped and started freaking out. But not that man. All he could say kind of under his breath was “Good.” I might have been the only one to hear it. The ump actually lived but I’ll never forget that guy muttering “good” when it happened. Like that lightning strike of the ump was divine proof that he was right.
