My yard is 1 yr old Zeon Zoysia. It’s doing well but has a few thinner spots due to heavy traffic. I’m wondering if I can overseed with the Pennington smart patch Zenith Zoysia to help those thin spots?

I know that smart patch will grow fast in the short term, but am I going to regret mixing Zoysia types?

Zeon Zoysia is only sold in sod or plugs so I can’t overseed with that

Zoysia is the stupidest grass there is. Nothing wrong with the grass itself but why so many varieties. Zoysia matrella, zoysia tenuifoila, and zoysia japonica. A hundred varieties each doing their own thing. I’m 95.6% right in thinking zenith and zeon are japonica and would blend well.

Yea this is where I’m stuck, so many types! It’s got this amateur very confused

Zeon (Zoysia Matrella): narrow blade like hybrid Bermudas. Zenith (zoysia japonica) has a blade width halfway between zeon and St Augustine.
2 different textures, 2 different growth rates, and probably 2 different green colors.
Why not cordon off the area to traffic and let it fill back in? I think the originator (Bladerunner) says it spreads fast.

I’ve got little kids and it’s spring. The whole point of the yard is so the kids can play in it. I’m not blocking part of it off
