This was what I was thinking too. If you're doing a 14.5" barrel, then nothing would be long if you're doing components. It might take a couple guys a day to put 50+ together, if they have the right tools set up in a workshop.

Could you imagine a couple dozen barrels mixed in with regular pipe? Same with buffer tubes. You stack that stuff up and send it with regular machine supplies, and stick it in crates on a ship.
