Racist movie flops guess we need to bail them out

As an OT moderate (white liberal) I'm pretending to be very "upset" about this news.

I’m sure the libtards will eventually make a push to ban the 1915 Birth of a Nation film. I watch that film every now and then to remind myself of how good this country used to be.

One thing is undeniable. The Magical Negros made 13 million dollars disappear.

Hook too shiny.

The movie really needs a sequel now.

If we’re honest, these garbage films being shoved down our throats is turning off several people like me from ever watching another film. I would never go watch that crap.
I haven't been to a theatre in many, many years.

I'm willing to bet that every single person who saw this racist crap also believes the absolutely not racist "Song of the South" should never be seen again because the black man was happy around white people.
Don't forget that the white woman ended up being the bitch in "Song of the South", and the old black man ended up being the hero, who was more wise and intelligent than her, and won out in the end.
The movie was still racist and needed to be cancelled. (S)

From the comments
I love the part where Hagrid appears and says:
"You're a Negro Harry."
That gave me a good laugh.

You know, the thing is, the base idea actually has some potential. You just have to go absurdist comedy with it like Key and Peele (probably works much better as a series of sketches than an actual feature length movie).
The Trope of the Magic Negro (wise, usually old, black character with a touch of whimsy to them) is hardly new. Hell, the trope really goes back farther than race even. There are elements of a wise magic outsider in countless tales, but I digress.
James Earl Jones in the Sandlot
The legend of Bagger Vance
Dick Calloran in the Shining
Michael Clark Duncan in the Green Mile.
The "Magic Negro" is not necessarily a bad plot element and has been masterfully used in storytelling by some. Great characters.
But this pile of shite...ugh. And to make it a Rom-Com?
You go serious or you go funny.
These people are garbage storytellers

The music was The Alabama Shakes. Which is a Black lady from Athens, Alabama and a bunch of white boys.

That’s an alter.
Started on 4/11.
Just ignore it.

when I'm scrolling the streaming services, i will very seldomly select a movie made after 2022. i just know at least 1/2 the cast with be gay, trans, or interracial couples that have absolutely nothing to do with the script.
i don't mind any of those 3 things other than to have them crammed down my throat when the story doesn't call for it.

Let me guess. It performed poorly because white people are racist not because it wasn’t good
this wasn't marketed at white people.
black people didn't wanna watch a movie where black super heroes had to appease white people, shocker.
I think they missed the point of satire.
Posted on 4/13/24 at 3:35 am to fr33manator
According to the media there soon wont be black people because all black men have white wives.
