I put out some Lesco Stonewall Preemergent in mid February. How long would you guys wait until you tried to plant some grass seed? It's my understanding that the Preemergent will impede the new grass seed from germinating. Correct me if I'm wrong.

On the label it says anywhere from 4-12 months depending on how much you put down.

Not to be nit picky but since you asked, no it won’t stop germination but it won’t allow the plant to grow past the germination stage. It’s easier to say it won’t allow germination, which is why I think you hear that so often.

I would wait until July/August if you want to try seeding this year. That would give you 2 solid months for the new grass to take before entering dormancy.

Thanks for the responses. I just don't want to waste money on grass seed if it won't grow.
