Besides being one of the world’s most mythologized sporting events, the Masters is a singular media property. As revealed by the late Pat Summerall in his 2008 autobiography Summerall: On and Off the Air, CBS maintains the rights to broadcast the Masters as part of a “year-to-year handshake agreement with the club.” While Augusta could clear as much as $125 million in TV money each spring under a standard media deal, the club does not charge CBS (or Thursday-Friday host ESPN) a rights fee.

Not sure what that guy is talking about but it would be nice if one app or network just got the rights to cover it from start to finish each day
