If I cared anything about her, that’s what I’d do. But she’s not important enough for me to go out of my way to bother with her. Our original plan was we’d get married and she’d go to college and become a nurse while I supported us both. But what ended up happening is she ended up dropping out of nursing school and stayed at Captain Ds until she quit work to stay home with the Mexican kids she and her then husband adopted. By the way, I didn’t mention it earlier, but at least one or two of those kids were special needs kids. I’m not sure, but she may still be having to care for them. They’d be in their 30s now. Anyway, she never earned a degree or picked up any job skills other than fast food. She’s well into her 50s now, never had kids of her own, and lives in a single wide trailer in her parents’ land. When I say I dodged a bullet, I mean I dodged a thermo nuclear warhead.
