I think him going after the tubers is the most import part. He's trying his best to explain it away, but he engaged them and that escalated the situation. The girls escalated it further, but if he never charges the boys, none of this happens.

His demeanor change when he wanted the prosecutor to know he was cussed at as the girls told him to leave is telling he was actually pissed at them and not just defending.

"Going after" and "charging" are just not accurate from the video I saw, or at least disingenuous. He was drunk and stumbling around looking for a phone (I think that's what it was). The guy he killed grabbed him by the throat and he was knocked down in the water, hit in the head, and surrounded. Nothing he did elicited that level of response.

The camera man lying that he was creeping on the girls probably incited it as much of anything and it was a complete lie.

I guess if they never went on the tubing trip in the first place none of this happens too.

He ran at them b/c he thought one of the guys had the phone he was looking for, at least that's what he said on the stand.
What he did there didn't incite the reaction the idiot kids had after that, and nothing he did required the response the kids gave and escalated too.

I think the biggest thing going against him is the fact that he took the knife out before any of the physical altercations started. and then of course him lying about everything after the fact. I know why he and his lawyers won't let him say why he lied, but it's b/c he's a foriegner that just stabbed people and he doesn't trust the US legal system against him, but he can't say that in court or to the jury.
