Once again, these coaches were leaving regardless of whether they got a head coaching job or not.

Well if you say it, it must be true

In fairness, and despite my reaction to his posts in that other thread, I think I did hear that too. Although, thinking about it, it was probably from Nap on here.

But I think there's probably some truth to it. I'm pretty sure we've lost some other ancilary staff members after both the last 2 seasons. I'm sure Jay's not very easy to work for. Him not having any kids and an apparently very supportive wife is a deal. It seems like he is LSU baseball 24/7 and is probably pretty demanding of the guys that work for him. He keeps making good hires because they probably feel it's worth it to help their careers, but he's probably not a guy really wanna work for long-term (I guess Wanaka is the exception), especially if you have younger kids.

He's probably kinda like Saban in that way, though I doubt he's a dictatorial a-hole to that level. Just demanding. And probably micromanages more than his assistants would prefer, specifically the pitching coaches. It looks like he tries to let them do their thing, but if the guys aren't playing well enough soon enough, he'll step in. Which is completely his right--it's his record the wins and losses get attached to, his resume that is getting added to every season, his legacy at stake.

I think he's still pissed that he had to burn Herring on Thursday and had to go to Ack too soon on Friday (he outright said this today on OTB). But he seemed to be in a good mood and was excited about some of the changes they have in store. Talked a lot about adding Dutton and Moffett to the travel roster this weekend.

Somebody's still gonna have to explain to me why the big 6'4" guy who throws 99, has an ERA under 1.5, and hadn't given up a run in his last 2 outings before last weekend wasn't already traveling, and why they just let him sit there in the dugout with nothing to do as we couldn't get anybody out the last game and a half last weekend, just watching Vandy doubling their SEC home run total and us getting run-ruled for the 3rd Game 3 in 4 weeks.

Regardless, like I said, he was in good spirits and was excited about using not just the pitchers differently in Knoxville, but also said "you might see some weird stuff like Guidry in the infield and Kade Anderson in the outfield too since we're carrying 2 less position players." Wonder who's not making the trip. Kuch is probably 1. He looked overmatched Tuesday night, and we've got Milam and Nippolt that could play short if something happens to Braswell. Not sure what outfielder will be watching from home.
