What are the keys to a Purdue victory?

They probably won’t win because Connecticut is so talented, but they do play defense better than Alabama (KenPom defensive efficiency is 12th, Alabama’s is 111th) and their offensive efficiency is almost the same (3rd in the country where Alabama is 2nd). They just play a slower game. Their guards are going to have to make the open looks they get and limit Newton and Castle on the other end of the court.

They should be able to force UConn to shoot more 3’s than normal because of Edey’s size. They’ll focus on making UConn’s players that aren’t Spencer and Karaban shoot from the outside and run an efficient offense limiting turnovers. UConn has two guys that should be able to defend Edey, so the complementary players have to step up. Keep an eye on Trey Kaufman-Ren (#4 on Purdue). He has a high motor and crashes the offensive glass well. He could get around Karaban to get extra opportunities.
