Down by one, with runners at the corners, I just don’t understand why the squeeze wasn’t on. Nothing like an inning ending double play with the tying run at third. I’m hoping we can get over this hump soon and grab some momentum, but coaching has to put us in the best opportunities to win

Frustrated fan here.

Are you guaranteeing it to work?

If I was paid $10k to think of the last time ANY LSU coach called a play in a pivotal moment that involved a successfully executed bunt in a conference of meaningful post season game, I couldn't do it

Nothing is guaranteed.. but it makes a whooooole lot of sense to bunt there

Then you have the hit and run on to stay out of the double play…

Did you watch the play. Go watch it.

Unfortunately Milam isn't really a flyball hitter. I was very concerned he was about to hit into a DP.

I am more upset at Jared Jones not swinging the bat.

We don’t coach bunting @ LSU. That’s obvious because no one can do it.

Better chance to work than a double play

This is why lsu fans are goofy

They will just assume the optimal outcome will happen with a bunt

Judging it Vs

The absolute worst outcome that could happen, actually happening.

Hitting into a double play is a risk, but not exactly a high one. It just so happened it did.

There are multiple positive outcomes that could have happened with Milam putting the ball in play vs bunting

Before I would let Milan swing I woulda tried that delay steal to second. Not a given but I like it better than letting him swing into a dp.
We have been a double play machine as of late.

In essence, exactly what I said last night on here right after it happened. Jay don’t like to bunt, steal, hit and run, etc. Don’t understand him.

Hey Lester. Thanks for your expert feedback.

Milam should have bunted for many reasons.
1) he’s one of the best bunters on the team
2) a bunt is not an automatic out with Milam running
3) it forces the defense to make a split second decision between home and first
4) with one out and runners on the corners, a bunt practically ensures Mac will get an at bat with a runner in scoring position, regardless if Braswell scores from third or not
5) you take away an inning-ending double play chance down by one run in the 8th

After thinking about it more last night I can understand jays perspective a little more. With some momentum it would suck for the lead runner to be out at the plate. But probably just as much as the double play did.

Would’ve at least tried to work the count and hope for a passed ball. Milam hit it hard and you can’t blame him really.

He won’t answer you. The first baseman was crashing on the play though.

This team would be screwed with Bear.
