I’ll admit, I never knew about Nebraska and Maine being winner taks all states. I still don’t really understand any of it, but from what I am gathering while listening to my evening podcast rounds…

A) Democrats are freaking the frick out about it
B) This has been the Dems game plan since day one
C) Mainstream Legacy media is freaking the frick out about it

Nebraska’s Republican Governor is all in on trying to change Nebraska from a winner takes all state.

Again, I don’t claim to know much about this Nebraska voting rule.. I’m just repeating what I have been watching on my Podcasts this evening.

Winner take all laws are a corruption of the electoral college.

The democRats claim they want to do away with the electoral college because it drowns out individuals. The real complaint should be that winner take all laws snuff out local congressional districts by switching their votes to match the state popular vote. The voices of the local districts are obliterated by winner take all.

I don't remember.

I think they used to be winner take all states and changed it.

Winner take all laws spread in the 1800s unfortunately.

Electoral votes should match each congressional district and not be obliterated by the popular vote of the state. It defeats the whole point of the electoral college.

I agree. I don't like the winner-take-all. Votes should be allocated based on congressional districts with the winner of the state's popular vote getting the two senate EVs. The Democrats would never win another presidential election if this were the case as it would limit the power of large urban areas like LA, NY, Chicago, etc.

Exactly, winner take all laws were the earliest form of rigging the system.

You have this backwards. Nebraska and Maine are the only two states that aren't winner take all. They both switched in 2004.

Changing Nebraska back to winner take all would likely mean 1 extra electoral vote for Trump. (It's possible he will win the only swing district anyway like he did in 2016)

Someone posted earlier that they already voted and it failed to get out of committee. Seemed kind of like a fast vote, so not sure if the report was accurate.

I'm not sure how they work their committees but it did go before the entire state legislature and did not pass. The final vote was 8-36 (Nebraska has the smallest legislature in the country)

Just seemed to be a quick vote. They just literally got the Dem to switch less than 48 hours ago. Someone said they were about to go on recess and maybe the just rushed it.

Regardless, I doubt Trump will need that one vote. I think RFK will peel away a large enough percent of vote from Biden for Trump to win most of the swing states.

Whoever called for the vote should be shot for not bothering to check how the vote might look.

From my understanding Nebraska isn’t a winner take all and republicans want to change that. That’s what has democrats pissed.

Nebraska is not winner take all. They are trying to change it to winner take all to get Trump one more EC vote.

Winner take all hurts voting

I have said this for years, it is a fair system giving more people a voice. Would be fair to GOP & DEMs and make races more competitive.

I think both parties could win as both parties have controlled congress recently

The preposition is “to” not “from”.
