I placed the blame on Republicans who don’t stay true to their professed values. This is a common problem in the Republican Party in Louisiana lately and the rest of the country for that matter.

It is more that he is pointing out that this is Government overreach which is a Democrat/liberal view. And to be fair the "Republican" Governor is having a view that stands against the party he is representing. There is zero reason the Government should have gotten involved or made an opinion on this subject when it was literally taken out of context.
And now he is trying to influence the Board of Supervisors to punish student athletes who don't follow his rule of law. And to be clear I am a conservative and this is beyond stupid and this is literally not something the Republican Governor of Louisiana needs to be concentrating on.

Agree, that shows you how much many Republicans today are as crazy as the radical far left. As an old Reagan/William F. Buckley National Review Conservative (when it was run by Classical Catholic Conservatives), the modern GOP has turned into Tribalism no different than the Identity Group politics of the far left.
Which is why I am an Independent and say F both of them.
