Politics of the anthem in general which is focus of Jemele or this one specific statement?

There are a lot of SEC states that usually elect Republicans to state wide offices or to majority in legislature who support the anthem and showing it respect (not that this particular issue was about protest or disrespect). They also don’t generally support DEI or similar predecessors like affirmative action or quotas. The SEC seems to do ok in sports.

As of now the statement is just a statement, and it has started a conversation which I thought most blacks supported…

The governor of the state going on Fox News and continuing to grandstand over the issue certainly isn't helping, wouldn't you say?
