Buckhead ain't what it used to be.

Midtown: The Georgian Terrace is a very nice and historic hotel on Peachtree. The Vortex is a good bar just up the street on Peachtree; they have good food too. Also, the Varsity is just a couple of blocks away. There is a MARTA (rail) station just two blocks away on West Peachtree and North that you can take to and from the Georgia Dome/Philips Arena.
Buckhead: The Grand Hyatt and Intercontinental are luxury hotels on Peachtree. Fado's is an Irish pub type and one of my favorite bars. It is about a mile south near the intersection of Peachtree and Paces Ferry; a short cab ride can get you there. There is a MARTA station just a couple of blocks north of the hotels on Peachtree.
Downtown: Probably the Omni at CNN Center/Philips Arena/Georgia Dome or the W at Centennial Olympic Park. Tons of people will be at Jock n Jill's on gameday. The food there is nothing special though and downtown will die pretty quickly after the game.
Enjoy the game and geaux tigers!

The Westin Peachtree downtown has a special if you book by Friday. It's $115 a night...it is prepaid and no cancellation...so keep that in mind. However, I've stayed there before and it is a very nice hotel.

I highly recommend the Ritz-Carlton. There is one in downtown and one in Buckhead.

The area around the Georgia Dome is the slum.
If I were going to the game, I would stay at the Courtyard by Marriott up on Windy Hill Road up I-75 near Smyrna and Marietta, just one exit north of the perimeter. Catch MARTA for a ride downtown to the Georgia Dome.
