I am not happy the baseball team is playing like they are, but you are coming off a team that has lost the majority of its offense. The team has a head space confidence problem right now. The talent is there, they just need to work through it.

You don't play for a title and then actually win a title without being a solid coach. He'll figure things out.

I'd argue that players that are in their 3rd to 5th years are better than younger players for the most part. Those same guys that Jay won the championship with got Maineri fired because young teams struggle to win. jay got them as seasoned vets.

To say Jared Jones has not contributed makes me question your rational thought process. The defensive bunt play he made against Arkansas rivals Tre' Morgans. He changed positions when he got to LSU, and his progress is impressive. Most of all, he gets on base, and produces runs. He leads the team in walks and home runs. Last night he moved players around the bases. Not glamorous, but crucial. It's impossible for an SEC baseball team to win with only 4 functioning players. Bear is definitely one of those 4. To be fair, the others you mentioned are struggling.

The biggest difference I've noticed between this year and last year is who people want out of the lineup.
People wanted a guy like Brayden Jobert benched multiple times throughout last season. He finished the year at .301/.409/.596 with 14 home runs and 49 RBI

It’s crazy to me how some posters here act like LSU had a championship caliber roster when Jay took the job, and fail to give him credit for development with guys like Jobert, Beloso, Dugas, Thompson, Morgan, and even Crews.

To the OP’s point, all of the players on your list were committed here when he arrived as well as Milam who was mentioned earlier in the thread.
It’s still too early to be concerned about this topic but it is worth evaluating next year to see how his guys are coming along.

I'm not saying he didn't help those guys develop, but basically everyone you named had success before Jay got here.

Having a lack of contribution from the 2021 class is noticeable. Anyone can point fingers but it kind of is what it is. It’s hard to blame that on Jay Johnson.
The best programs strategically stack their recruiting classes on a many number of factors. Jay missed out on that but within a year or two shoukd totally correct itself

I mean, we’re talking with a bunch of people who won’t give the current staff credit for recruits from the 2022 and 2023 classes.
