Are they suggesting importing Koreans with rifles to cover rooftops?

Get your junk food in the suburbs.

It’s an incredibly messy approach - even if I think a few here aren’t picturing the issue at play correctly
What they need to do is have police enforce the laws in those locations.
Granted there are store owners selling guns and drugs out the back and basically part of the problem (see the recent bust in Nola a couple months back) - but target those for their activities not for the activities of their patrons.

yeah and as soon as an employee goes and asks people to not loiter, they will be crucified for being racist, or worse get attacked or killed for confronting the people.
want to curb crime? hold people accountable. if it warrants jail time, you fricking send them to jail.

Maybe this will lead to most of these stores shutting down.
It might wake up these politicians. Probably not, but it might.

Imagine being a white man who votes Democrat. This is your party.
Any OT Moderate want to tell us why our country needs more of this leadership? It’s not like this mayor is the exception to all the other great Democrat mayors.

I would suggest to these business owners get out while you can. Load up your entire inventory and put sheet metal over the windows and doors. Put a for sale sign on top of the sheet metal and then floor it.
You cannot survive in that type of political environment. The land is worthless. We have the same situation here in BR.
For example check out Choctaw Dr. between Greenwell Springs Rd and Plank Road. There are some good businesses there, mostly dealing with concrete, electricity, and welding. They keep no cash on the premises and the tools/equipment are secured. If these businesses leave for some reason no one will be rushing in to purchase the land to build a Costco or a starbucks. You will never see a Bucees or an Olive Garden there.
There is one gas station/convenience store at the corner of Choctaw and Foster. There is a Popeye's at Acadian and Choctaw.

Is the police department responsible for providing goods and services?
I didn't think so.
So, why are businesses responsible for police department obligations?

St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones plans to hold local businesses accountable for violent crime outside their establishments, she told Action News 5.
Her comments came while attending a meeting of the Black Mayors’ Coalition on Crime. The group, launched this week by Memphis, Tennessee Mayor Paul Young, aims to “harness the collective power of black mayors across the nation to fight crime” and includes 21 leaders of cities across the country.
We have a lot of violence around convenience stores and gas stations,” Jones said of St. Louis. “So how can we hold those business owners accountable and also bring down crime? Some of the things we’re already doing, we’re finding that other mayors are doing as well.”
St. Louis, huh? The same city which prosecuted Mark and Patricia McCloskey in 2020 simply for standing their ground and threatening to shoot a marauding band of Black Lives Matters protesters who had broken into their secured neighborhood and were trespassing on their premises striking fear for the safety of the McCloskeys. Now the mayor of St. Louis wants the business owners to do exactly what the Mcloskeys were prosecuted and convicted of doing. Guaranteed the mayor was entirely supportive of the criminal charges lodged against the couple in 2020.
