I’d like to know what the pitch call was. It sure seems like our pitch calls on 1-2 and 0-2 are poor, or the execution is poor. We put way too many meat balls over the plate when ahead.

Guidry doesn’t impress me. I made a post late last year wondering just why Guidry was effective because it didn’t make sense.
He’s a one trick pony with the slider. Which is a plus pitch but he has a low velo fastball that he struggles to locate as his only other pitch.
None of his stuff exactly screams “top bullpen arm”. I love his attitude/mentality but the film is out on him.

IMHO, I have always been in the “he’s not an extended inning pitcher” he’s good in specialty situations, with a lead, to throw cold water on a comeback, get out of an already buggered up inning. To start a game or an inning….too many balls. Falls behind in the count. He’s given too many HRs.
That being the case, we should switch him to the infield and see if the bat has improved. Probably lose him next year if not.
