re: If Brock Bowers or Rome Odunze are still on the board at 14, do you take one of them?

A serviceable tackle is not going to get Carr killed. Is he going to take some hits? Sure but other teams manage without having a top tackle. If you have a chance to get a potential superstar like Odunze or Bowers then you take it. You don’t go into this draft and just say first round tackle no matter what.
I would disagree especially considering our qb is a bit subpar when it comes to dealing with pressure to begin with. I like Odunze he has potential but WR is not a need.
I don’t think TE is a need either. Bowers may be talented but I wouldn’t think hes this huge impact type of guy. Take a look at all the first round TEs drafted in the last 20 years. The only guys that you would label as impact players would be Dallas Clark, Greg Olson, Vernon Davis and Todd Heap out of 25 TEs selected. The chances Bowers becomes a franchise type TE is pretty slim.

Both are needs. You don’t have a WR over 200 lbs. We have backup calibre TEs running as our starters
Bowers would solve both issues. Ran half his routes from the slot at UGA, another 11% split wide.

In the ENTIRE PFF College Era, Brock Bowers ranks:
1st in career PFF receiving grade (94.3)
1st in career receiving yards
1st in receiving YAC
1st in forced missed tackles
T-1st in receiving TD's
Reality is most of Bowers receiving metrics surpasses the stud WRs of the past few classes. He is that dude

You are too focused on need and short term goals for next year. In actuality, I also don’t think a first round tackle necessarily pushes you to a playoff birth next year anyway. Carr is a veteran who is getting paid well and needs to figure it out. He isn’t going to get the perfect offense and an offensive playmaker still helps him. Now if a first round tackle is the BPA then you absolutely take the tackle. But don’t go in and say tackle or bust when there is better talent on the board that can transform your offense.
