For spot treating, go get some bifen or any product with 7.9% bifenthrin. Mix it 1 oz to 1 gallon of water in a pump sprayer and hose down the mounds. That should wreck their world. Here are a couple of links.

Yep, been using bifen granules the past 3 years solely on high areas in my yard. One application per year works for me. I apply it with a Scotts "walk-behind" spreader.
