Not even a close assessment, but an opportunity to play the race card as would be expected. Using DEI hire people instead of merit puts people in jobs they are not qualified for. There are a multitude of instances where this has happened. As long as DEI is in play as displayed on Synergy's website it has to be suspect as to one of the possible causes.

Picking someone for a position because of skin color over someone who is qualified is plain racism.

It's analogous to having a faulty part in a engine. Maybe it wasn't why the engine failed but you have to be suspect.

Exactly. Whether the captain was a DEI hire or not, one can almost guarantee that he or she was subjected to hours of wasted time in DEI training that could have been better spent on things like seafaring. Maybe someone on the crew was a DEI hire who failed to do their job that caused the power to go out. Or just the fact the company was not primarily focused on operating ships, and instead expending resources to DEI.
All of these reasons means we can and should place the blame at DEI.
