What is most concerning is that you can develop that allergy without knowing. You can get bit one time and make it, but the next one could kill you in minutes as opposed to hours.
There's a South African handler (he has all sorts of animals in his sanctuary) on YouTube who developed an allergy after one bite. Years ago he got bit by a black mamba. He made it out after being on a vent for a while, but started noticing that when he was around the snakes he would start having issues breathing and become itchy. He still keeps and catches nuisance snakes, but keeps a kit of epinephrine and adrenaline with him at all times. Dingo Dinkleman is his YouTube name. He used to have hundreds of videos on YouTube, but someone stole them all, filed copyright claims against him for his own stuff, and got the channel shut down completely. They started a new one and have been reloading the old videos along with new ones.
I don't get the whole venomous keeping just for the sake of having them. They're just too big a risk.
