if I'm playing devil's advocate..... depending on how it's framed I could certainly see it putting more pressure on Putin to withdraw from Ukraine. obviously the action itself doesn't do anything to end the war but public sentiment may become "this is now hitting home."

On what planet? If anything, this galvanizes Russia’s resolve regardless of who did it.


The “CIA did it” angle makes zero sense.

Right. Because the nation and culture that historically has shown an insane willingness to bear the brunt of conflict on the civilian population to the tune of tens of millions of casualties is going to throw their hands in the air because of a theater attack.

It just makes no sense.

The converse of that is that it would turn Western democracies against Ukraine and dry up their funding completely. Also, if it could be traced back to any intelligence agencies, it could sink those administrations.
