with Thomas? because Deuce is gone in 2009 imho

Thomas is a serviceable every down back. We still need a bruiser, but PT can run up the gut, off tackle, screens, etc. He's a complete back and that's really what you need to compliment Bush who does his damage when the defense isn't keying on him.

damn, all three hunh?

No, just 2. Move Brown back to RT. Center shouldn't be that hard to fill, we don't need a stud, but we downgraded the position when we lost Faine and have had non-fulltime centers manning the spot.

so with limited cap space and a 1st rounder and not much else in this upcoming draft, how do you propose to upgrade at three OL spots, OLB and both safeties?

I don't think you have to upgrade both safeties. We use Harper as the 8th man in the box a lot, getting a more complete safety of course would be good, but getting a better coverage safety that wasn't good at run support would probably cause more problems than it solves. Getting a better coverage safety to replace kk/bullocks solves many problems.

It's really too early to answer your question though. We have to see where the Saints are drafting to see what the options are. It is a deep draft at LT so if we are drafting in the teens we possibly could trade back, still get a good LT and pick up a 3rd. You also have to throw unforseen trades into the equation. We got both Faine and Hollis Thomas for the low low price of swaping positions in a round.

Can we fill all the holes this offseason? Who knows, but there seem to be fewer holes to fill than in previous seasons and trading Bush for a safety and some midround picks just doesn't get us enough ROI IMO.

I'm not one of the people who think Bush is definitely gone as soon as he can sign with another team. The fans won't get any kinder in New York and Bush isn't likely to find another coach to overuse him as much or an offense so loaded that he's not the focus of the defense on every play. He may get more money in other markets, but he won't get more opportunity.
