Youtube has fallen

I read what is said in the article, but I fil to see how this indicates YouTube has fallen. YouTube has been in the government's pocket for quite some time now. Same can be said of Facebook, Instagram, as well as what we call mainstream media.

When I hear YouTube has fallen, I start thinking that maybe their spyware and methods of using it have been exposed and a way for users to get around it has been discovered. Your thread title gave me false hope.

I never heard of Nikocado until this thread. After a ten second search I’m pretty sure I have no interest in
the idiot. I’ve always assumed that YouTube and other sites maintain my browsing and viewing history.

YouTube tracks every video you watch, like, comment on and has that attached to your data profile that can be used against you whenever we adopt the social credit score.

Will being obsessed with watching old football games from the 70s and 80s hurt or help my score?

I've no idea who this channel/ person is. I have never heard of it.

*checks YouTube*

3.79 million subscribers & you're claiming ALL will be "doxed & arrested"?

You're an idiot.

That doesn't even apply here. These are court orders.

Youtube has little to do with it. They can get similar orders for anything (this site, or any other site you visit, your internet account, etc.)

If YouTube didn't track everything a person does there would be no data to satisfy the surveillance state demands.

These big tech companies have also offered up doorbell cam footage and such, no warrants required.

All of these freedom loving conservatives and libertarians here don't care though. I did find the discussion on HN more informative.

I mean, I suppose this hinges on how you define "freedom".

Is the freedom to contract more important than Big Brother infringing on that freedom to protect you, and spinning it as making you free?

You know who the people who support the government side sound like? Leftists. That's literally their excuse to regulate everything.

What you posted says the person has been a member for almost 4 years. Yes there is a low post count. But that could just mean they don’t post often.

I want individuals to be more informed and to hopefully make better decisions. No government required.

It is tough though as it requires a little more work and sacrifice to use privacy conscious technology.

Compare all of the handwaving going on in here to the discussion I linked.

I have less issue with doorbell cams.
Their entire purpose is surveillance for security.

Why not catch a porch pirate?
Why not track a vehicle fleeing a crime scene?

I honestly don't care about youtube or Google knowing my search history. They are free platforms. And nothing is free.

Watched a video recently? Good job, you're on a watchlist.

:surejan.gif:

If I'm on a watchlist for the Youtube videos I've watched, the federal government will have lots of 'splainin to do (see also: the FBI's No-Fly List).

Government surveillance and harvesting of geofence data and video viewership is absolutely appropriate for the political board.
