Unless you are old teammates with Kurt Schilling you should be able to announce or not announce what ailment you have.

I'm pretty sure they are financially set enough that they dont need to use their fame to make a living
what's bad is the conspiracy theorists even knew that she had been in the hospital but acted like they were entitled to know her medical info.
