Well we did win with Trent, at least that first season. No one remembers that he won the SEC and went to the tournament. After that he was just another in a long line of coaches that either couldn't bring in good players are who didn't know what to do with them when they got them(Johnny Jones).

The real struggle with basketball at LSU is that most of the great athletes in the state choose football over basketball so the in state pickings are slim. The out of state guys that are good are going to want to either play near home or go with a big nationally recognized program that has a shot at the national championship. A never ending cycle that frustrates basketball fans.

That's why Wade was so exciting. He knew where to find players and knew how to convince them to come to LSU. Look at what he has done at McNeese. He is playing with 10 players from the portal and is 30-3 , is the coach of the year in his conference, nominated for two national coach of the year honors and is playing in the NCAA Tournament at 6:00 today.
