He got severely outcoached in the 2006 Final Four and UCLA kicked his shite in. They played Zone and we couldn't shoot them out of it. On offense, UCLA ran all night and had LSU sucking wind.

Similar to 1/9/12, once UCLA went up by double digits it felt like it was over

Did ucla play zone? I can’t remember and won’t dare watch the tape. I always thought they were an aggressive man team under Howland and i do recall them doubling Darrel Mitchell off every high screen. They had a great defensive gameplan and paid more attention to taking away Mitchell vs Davis/Thomas although im pretty sure the latter 2 both ended up in foul trouble. No one else could really step up and make a shot or a play. Defensively we weren’t awful but had zero answers offensively.

Sure but beating Duke and JJ Redick in the regional was incredible. While not his best game Tyrus Thomas may have been the most entertaining basketball player LSU has had in the last 30 years.

Had LSU kept 1 of the natural point guards that left the state, I believe the offense would have ran smoother and they couldve won that game and the title...

UCLA was just as athletic, just as tall with 2 pgs that had them running a smooth offense..

When LSU got cold they couldnt get any easy offense.

Tweety Carter ,the Francis kid,Biko Parrish(sp),,DJ Augustin, plus a few other natural ball handlers who could facilitate, distribute the ball, score and take over when it was necessary!!

The offense didnt get anything easy and the lack of a point guard versus a team with 2 quality pgs was evident!!

Yet like others have said any of the early entrants to the NBA wouldve gave LSU another dynamic player who could score and take over the game...

I understand why coaches get blamed for not making adjustments or trying different things...

I never understood why coaches get blamed when the team can't put the ball in the basket?!
