Sometimes they come out of hibernation early. We once found one in January in Tensas. He was still so out of it, it was like he was high as shite. He just laid there for two days. Never moved.

Shark Valley in Miami is awesome in Dec and Jan just for this reason.
It's a big arse bike/walking loop in the Everglades. Huge gators will crawl out onto the paved parts and just lay there.
Pretty awesome. Monsters wide awake but too cold to expend any energy as you jog by.
