You invented that.
Desantis obviously wasn't going to be VP. There's 10 reasons for that.
And, it's clear he doesn't like Trump. I understand that given what Trump just did to him.
Nevertheless, relative to his future prospects, he has a problem. His campaign called America First / MAGA voters (which represent a very large portion of Republicans) a cult. They've been insulted over and over. Even your comment above accuses me of fealty. You do it so easily because it's the norm.
If Desantis were smart, he'd get out and help Trump on the national level. #1, that would define him as a national player vs. a Florida guy. He could focus on the states where Trump's path is a little tougher...and he coudl do it in the context of America First / MAGA. He could define himself as such. That would be a smart, smart political move.
Instead, as one of the most prominent Desantis posters on here said, "Desantis wouldn't piss on Trump if he was on fire." And, that emotion is keeping him from making a decision that would be good for the party. His pride is in the way.
I'm not making that case that America First Republicans should not support Desantis. I'm pointing out that will likely be the case. The dynamic will resemble the last 18 months that he and his team couldn't figure out to the point where they adopted that all of the voters must be a cult.
Be prepared.

Which is very strange because DeSantis’s policies, beliefs and actions have been 100% America First, more so than most politicians. There has been no grey. He isn’t a former Democrat, he isn’t a former blue state liberal. He didn’t contribute to Act Blue 6 years ago, or support Bernie Sanders mask mandate. The only policy disagreement with Trump has been opposing Trumps amnesty bill as well as his spending bills.
One would think they could get over their feels to support a candidate who would do what they claim to want.
It’s just a very strange phenomenon. It’s almost like yall don’t want to achieve things but just like the drama.
But it’s not all about Trump…nah, totally not.
