First of all, it would be surprising - and funny - if anyone actually read these long threads.

But mostly, I find it amusing that the Will Wade Glee Club can complain, cry, stomp their feet, protest, clench their fists and create thread after thread, year after year...and they will never see the return of their hero.

He's gone. Forever. In the wind. A pear on a mission, never to return.

I think that's what makes these futile threads so cathartic for the Wade Glee Club...but so much fun for everyone else

It's a message board. Every thread is "futile" in terms of making a difference. It's just a forum for discussion. And like it or not, there is not a lot of positives to discuss when it comes to the current state of the basketball program relative to where it was between 2017 - 2022 when LSU was a consistent NCAA Tournament participant during that time. Something that the program simply had not been for 30 years.

Regardless of what coach came in last year he was ALWAYS going to be compared to the previous coach because he had set a benchmark for success. No fans are ever excited to go backwards in terms of success. That's why you saw guys like Laval and Orgeron quickly be removed when the program went backwards.

What has made things more disheartening is that the former HC is back coaching, with relatively minimal restrictions, at an in-state school. And not only is he coaching again., he's just led that school to the NCAAT and the biggest single-season turnaround of any program in the country this year. That then leads to the obvious question "was the firing really necessary?" Would LSU have been better off eating a few years of sanctions rather than making a change and quickly declining with no end (today) in sight?"

Every LSU fan hopes McMahon can succeed. They WANT him to succeed. Yes, even the guys who are his biggest critics because they were LSU basketball fans before his arrival and will be after.
