“Duty, Honor, Country” is not less changeable than what constitutes “Army Values”. I’m not sure why this is an issue.

The issue is "Duty, Honor, Country" is front and center in the American public's mind when they think of West Point. Those are bedrock virtues.
When you change it to "Army Values" that has to be explained with another poster or PowerPoint slide, you might as well be reading the terms and conditions of your cell phone contract. And you know damn well what the impetus for all this is. Much like those cellphone contracts and insurance policies, "terms are subject to change".
