My fraternity, I would guess in 1985, held a date party where we told our dates it was a formal event and to wear their best dresses, but instead we took them in rented buses to the Centroplex for mid-south wrestling.

Baw culture was much stronger and women had a much better sense of humor in those days.

Back in the day, the Baton Rouge state fair would bring in wrestling sometimes. Saw a no holes barred match between Bruiser Brody and Abdullah the Butcher. There was blood everywhere when they were done

Back in the day, I went to a Midsouth show in Lake Charles. During the show Paul Ellering ran to the ring and took the microphone from Jim Ross. He was going off on some of the other wrestlers. He had new nicknames for them,
Jake the Rake Roberts, Dirty Rhodes, Paul Orndork, and a few others. They all came down and chased him around the ring a couple of times until he ran off.

A couple of days later I wound up going to see it in Alexandria. It was the same exact show. Still enjoyed it.
