Back in the mid 90’s to around mid 2000 my dad’s best friend had a 40 hp tohatsu. It was a tank. Abused with little maintenance and I don’t remember any real issues with it. I never owned one but I wouldn’t hesitate to put one that they build themselves on one of my boats. I know that isn’t recent history but it made an impression on me.
For the record my dad’s friend upgraded boats and has gone thru 2 Honda 150’s in 14 years. He is currently seeing if he can ruin Yamahas reputation with his new 150 he got last year lol
