I haven't really followed this whole thing. What happens to the River Center in this scenario?

Much of the River center will be redone to add more Convention Space capacity. This will allow Baton Rouge, in theory, to be able to get more conventions that are mid-size. That of course will help hotels, restaurants, and other businesses related to the Convention Industry including Tourism (Visit Baton Rouge is behind it) and the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce is behind it. I think the arena (what was the Centroplex back in the day) will only be able to hold an event no more than a few thousand thus all large Concert type events will use the new LSU arena.

So you have an LSU, The Chamber of Commerce of BR, Visit BR (Tourism), The Metro Council and TAF all on the same page. That doesn't happen to often.

From what it appears, Private Developers will build it, and LSU will sign a 30 year Lease with the Title Transferring at the end of the Lease (Finance Type Lease) to LSU. A very common type of Leasing arrangement.

Are they required to update it after 30years before turning it over to LSU…? How does that typically work?
Or do we get a building with aged stuff like roofs.. ac..etc.??
