re: It’s obvious Texas will now be our biggest rival in all sports

I don’t disagree about OU…just meant that culturally it’s not the South.
I mostly wanted to point out that Arkansas and Texas are a much bigger rivalry than most in the SEC realize. I only know it because of friends from both.
And Missouri might as well be Indiana. Or Iowa. Or Canada.

You’re giving your school WAY too much credit. Win or lose, A&M/Texas will always be each of those teams’ main rival, regardless of past results.

They’ll be a rival in the same way Florida is a rival.
Yall are obsessed with LSU having a single true rival. That’s not gonna happen now or ever. Arkansas had potential but they simply don’t have the history or resources to be a constant threat to LSU.
Everyone else has an instate or historical rival that they hate more than LSU. It’s just the way it’ll always be. We’re more like a ND. We have a handful of rivals but not a clear cut single one all time. They come and go on the leaderboard.
I say Arkansas because they’re the only other team that has no in state rival and no true border rival. Sure they don’t like Mizzou, OU and Tx but I think LSU is still a top tier hated rival for them. The issue with Arkansas is that most LSU fans don’t really hate them all that much. Hardly more than we hate most other west teams.

Eastern OK is definitely just as southern as Arkansas, North La and North Ms. Culturally it’s extremely similar.
Yall just hear Oklahoma and picture dust bowl/little house on the prairie. Which is obviously a big piece of the states history and culture. However once you get east of I-35 it starts feeling very much like the rest of the mid south. Look at all of the famous country singers that came out of Oklahoma. Mostly all Eastern Ok. Look at the cuisine. It’s southern. The people there live and die on Sooner football much like Alabama on tide football.

Looking forward to a fun and heated rivalry for the decades to come.
Yeah, get into a pissing match with a bunch of douchebags with infinite money. I'm sure it'll go great.

Southeast OK is even nicknamed "Little Dixie"

Hell I’d even venture to say that Oklahoma is more “southern” culturally than most of Texas. Especially with all the migration in Texas from all around the world. That once southern identity is shrinking.
Oklahoma in 2024 has more in common with Alabama than it has in common with Texas.

Who’s Arkansas’? They definitely have a longer history with us than they do mizzou
I know playing OU at the end of every season will be something but they can play Mizzou and LSU gets Arkansas back like we used to have. There’s 30+ years of history with Arkansas on the table.

My son just received his acceptance letter from UT.
He'd already received his acceptance letter from TAMU but he didn't want to go there and I didn't even have to tell him I was going to disown him if he accepted.
My daughter just graduated from OU.
Man, is it ever going to be fun watching those two squabble, while I kick back and watch LSU take them both down faster than a BBQ Master in Haiti.

What is our record with Texas over the years??

It’s actually only 9-8 all time. We have very limited history with them. 2020 was our chance to tie the series.
Even lesser with Oklahoma. 2-1 all time with the 2 wins being in 03 and 19. The one loss was the 1950 sugar bowl.
