I think she means well, but she has a history of not reading the room. The correct thing to do on Sunday would simply have been to keep her mouth shut. Perhaps acknowledge that it's unfortunate what happened, but we're moving on. She was probably unaware that Staley had already "apologized" on national TV, but someone around her should have told her.
