I highly recommend a car service from LaGuardia to JFK for a family of five. As others have mentioned they are both pain in the arse airports to get to and from via public transportation. A few years ago my dad had a stroke at JFK and I had to fly to Newark and my sister flew to LaGuardia to get to JFK because that was the quickest way for us to get to NYC. Getting from airport to airport is a chore. Newark is by far the easiest.

I'm renting a car for the day.
1. It was like 10 dollars more than a shuttle/car service.
2. If our morning flight is on time we will have like 5 hours to kill and can take it to the city to walk around the park/grab a pizza or whatever and obviously it will be able to hold our luggage during that time.
