I was a huge Oscar Watch Party Fan.
After Meryl Streep got the Oscar for The Iron Lady instead of Rooney Mara for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, I gave up on the Oscars and have not watched the full program since.

Streep's win was a minor surprise, but Rooney Mara was in no way the favorite. Her nomination was basically the consolation prize for that movie, it being the film's only "above the line" nom. Viola Davis was the favorite to win for her role in The Help.
What a tragic set of nominees in that category in 2012.
